Getting On-Board
R.O. and Nancy Robertson are “Getting On-Board” with helping Cabell Huntington Hospital and Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.
Meeting in Junior High School and being married for 69 years, the Robertson’s have a long history with Cabell Huntington. R.O and Nancy Robertson experienced having a child seriously injured and cared for at Cabell shortly after the hospital’s opening in 1956.
The Robertson’s appreciated the great care they received back then. They continue to be impressed with the wonderful and exciting new services and treatment available to families today through Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.
The Connection
R.O. was a local business owner of Quorum and has always been a very active member of the Huntington community serving on multiple boards and helping various organizations. He served on the board of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation for several years. Nancy was a very active volunteer in 5th Avenue Baptist Church, American Red Cross and the Huntington Junior League. Following college Nancy raised 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy, now living all across the Eastern United States. Family and giving back has always been very important to both of them.
“We were aware of what the hospital was doing in making changes to become a Children’s Hospital and wanted to help and get involved and liked the idea of the Prayer Garden. It allows families of patients, nurses, doctors and hospital staff to get away and take a moment for themselves”, said Mr. Robertson.
Come and Use It
The new prayer garden located next to the Breezeway to Hoops Family Children’s Hospital will be named “The Nancy and R.O. Robertson Prayer Garden” thanks to a generous gift from the couple, honoring both them and their family.
“Family has always been an important and cherished part of the Robertson’s legacy and we are honored that they would let us be a part of securing that legacy of love to be shared with others through the prayer garden here at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital,” said Kristi Arrowood, Director of Development for Cabell Huntington Hospital’s Foundation.
