Created in 2004 as the Pleasant Valley Foundation, the newly-named Rivers Health Foundation exists to support the mission of the hospital and to bring awareness and understanding of the essential role quality health care plays in the rural community of Mason County and adjoining counties in southern Ohio. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a volunteer community board of trustees.

With the 2023 arrival of Nucor Steel and other business bringing a projected doubling or tripling of Mason County’s population by 2035, quality health care will be increasingly important to the area. The numbers alone tell the story. The Nucor plant on 1,700 acres just south of Point Pleasant is a $3.1 billion investment, with a three-million-ton sheet capacity. Two thousand workers are being employed during construction, with a workforce of 800 once the plant is operational.

With these workers will come families and increasing health care needs. Rivers Health, a member of Marshall Health Network, has been planning an expansion of its emergency department and other facilities to meet this anticipated upsurge in demand. Your gifts will allow Rivers Health to maintain the high-quality, compassionate care that have been a feature throughout its 65-year history. They will ensure the hospital continues to be able to reach out to the community with health education, wellness programs, and health screenings that can help residents improve their quality of life.
