Sometimes the greatest barrier to healing isn’t medical — it’s financial. The Good Samaritan Funds at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Hoops Family Children’s Hospital, Rivers Health and St. Mary’s Medical Center help patients access the care they need when cost stands in the way.
Every day, we meet individuals who are bravely facing serious illness but struggling to afford the essentials that make treatment possible — a tank of gas, a place to stay near the hospital, or a procedure that insurance won’t cover. The Good Samaritan Fund offers timely, practical assistance so patients can focus on what truly matters: getting well.
How the Fund Helps
Through generous individual and community partner contributions, the Good Samaritan Fund provides:
- Gas cards and travel aid for patients who travel long distances for appointments, such as infusion appointments.
- Short‑term hotel stays for oncology patients who travel long distances for infusion appointments and other necessary medical appointments.
- Support for essential medical or dental procedures that are critical to oncology treatment but not fully covered by insurance.
- Access to preventative screenings for community members who might otherwise delay crucial checkups, like mammograms for uninsured or underinsured patients.
Every dollar you give directly supports patients in moments of real need — easing their stress, restoring dignity, and helping them stay on the path to healing.
