The Mike Ross Family Foundation
Longtime West Virginia businessman and philanthropist Mike Ross, and the Mike Ross Family Foundation, have made a generous donation to the Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation.
These funds will be used for a General Pediatric Room at the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.
History
A native of Coalton and 2013 inductee into West Virginia University’s Business Hall of Fame, Ross has more than 50 years of experience in oil and natural gas production. He was also a state senator from 1992-2004 and served in the House of Delegates in 2009-10 after Gov. Joe Manchin appointed him to fill a vacancy left by the death of Delegate Bill Proudfoot.
Ross and his wife, Joanne, have five children: Steve, Frannie, Mike, Bill, and Jim; and 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, with one on the way. A few grandkids have experienced care and treatment in a children’s hospital, which was a motivating factor in their donation.
Encouragement to You
Mike encourages anyone who is able to be a part of helping the children in the Tri-State Area to do so, because children are our greatest resource. This kind of spirit is demonstrated by his previous, generous donation to the WVU Children’s Hospital.
“For many years families had to travel long distances to get the care their children needed,” Ross says. “I think it is wonderful that we now have two children’s hospitals in the state. Both being on the borders of other states, we have the privilege of serving those children too.”
