HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – More than 500 participants filled Pullman Square in downtown Huntington Sunday, Sept. 27, for Path to the Cure, a fundraiser to support cancer patients and families throughout the region.

Hosted by Marshall Health Network Foundations and Marshall Health Network – Edwards Cancer Institute, the annual 5K and family fun day brought together cancer survivors, patients, families, caregivers and community supporters to celebrate survivorship, honor loved ones and help ease the financial burden of cancer treatment.

This year’s also featured 38 personalized Survivor, Warrior and Memorial banners displayed throughout Pullman Square in honor or memory of individuals affected by cancer.

“Path to the Cure is a powerful example of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared purpose,” said Matt James, vice president of foundations at Marshall Health Network. “Every participant, sponsor, donor and volunteer who supported this year’s Path to the Cure is helping us provide meaningful assistance to patients and families when they need it most.”

Path to the Cure was supported by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals and Setzer’s World of Camping, along with 20 other sponsors and numerous community partners, teams, volunteers and individual donors.

Funds raised through Path to the Cure support programs and services that help address financial needs patients and families may experience during cancer treatment.

In addition to the 5K walk/run, the event featured family activities, entertainment and team tailgating, creating a day centered on community, remembrance and hope.

Marshall Health Network – Edwards Cancer Institute provides comprehensive cancer services in Huntington, Point Pleasant and South Charleston.
