Toney Stroud works as an attorney in the corporate legal department at Encova Insurance. In this role, Stroud oversees the company’s outside litigation, mediates cases across the country and provides legal support to the claims and underwriting departments. He frequently speaks at seminars across the country related to workers’ compensation and insurance related matters. Prior to joining Encova in 2013, Stroud was a partner in the labor and employment department of Steptoe & Johnson where he focused his career on the defense of workers’ compensation claims, occupational disease claims, black lung claims and employment litigation. Stroud is very active in the community, serving on the Boards of St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation, Leadership West Virginia, United Way of the River Cities and Education Alliance. He is currently Chairman of the Board of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce. Stroud was appointed to the Marshall University Board of Governors by Governor Justice in 2019 and currently serves as Vice Chairman. He received his BBA from Marshall University in 1998 and a JD from the West Virginia College of Law in 1998.
