Michael Haney
Director
PROACT Project Team
Michael Haney has had considerable experience in the behavioral health field since 1991. Among his many positions have been Clinical Director for the Prestera Center for Mental Health Services’ Addiction Recovery Center, Director of Behavioral Health for Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, and Addiction Program Supervisor at Pathways, Inc. He has treated patients with mental health and substance use disorders.
Since its formation in 2019 as a collaborative between hospitals and other medical providers in the region, PROACT has completed assessments on thousands of individuals and provides continuing care for several hundred. “In Huntington we’ve embraced the notion that we can’t solve this crisis alone – we all need to work together,” Haney says. “PROACT is the embodiment of that concept.”
In addition to his work with PROACT, Haney is an adjunct faculty member in the psychology department at Eastern Kentucky University and for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, teaching classes in addiction counseling and social work. He currently serves as Secretary for the Board of Directors for the Fuller Center for Housing of Ashland and Ironton, Inc.
Michael has a Bachelor’s Degree from Morehead State University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. He is licensed to practice independently in West Virginia and Kentucky.
