Russell was born more than six weeks early and spent nearly a month in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital. Unable to breathe or eat on his own at birth, Russell received specialized care and extra time he needed to grow stronger. His family credits the NICU team for giving Russell the best possible start and giving them the confidence they needed to bring their healthy boy home.
Now a kindergartner at Sacred Heart Grade School, Russell loves hockey, tee ball, swimming, and anything involving his favorite color, green. He is a huge Hulk fan with hundreds of Hulk toys, loves animals, especially his dog Minnie, and is known for being a wonderful friend. As a Hoops Ambassador, Russell is helping raise awareness and support for the NICU nurses, equipment, and resources that help give premature babies a strong start.
