In April 2026, Jayce was involved in a bicycle accident that left him with a severe traumatic brain injury. After undergoing emergency surgery and spending more than two weeks on a ventilator, Jayce began a long road to recovery. With the help of intensive therapy and the incredible care from the team at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital, Jayce regained movement on his right side and was eventually able to walk and eat on his own. His first words to his mom were, “I love you.”
Today, Jayce is an eighth grader at Charleston Catholic who loves sports, fishing, dogs, cats, and ATVs. A fan of soccer, basketball, baseball, and football, he also loves Bluey, watermelon, and mint chocolate chip ice cream. As a Hoops Ambassador, Jayce is dedicated to raising awareness and support for the PICU team that helped give him a second chance at life.
