Carson was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at just three years old after being transferred to Hoops Family Children’s Hospital following a severe ear infection. He endured a long and difficult treatment journey that included chemotherapy, surgeries, lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, and blood and platelet transfusions. Through it all, Carson showed incredible bravery and courage. He reached remission at age six and had his port removed at seven. Today, at 11 years old, Carson is a childhood cancer survivor, and his family is grateful for the care team who became like family throughout his journey.
A fifth grader at Russell-McDowell, Carson loves playing Xbox with his friends, strawberries, and Hershey chocolate and mint ice cream. He loves his American Bulldog, Harley Bug, is learning to play the viola in orchestra, and recently made his school’s safety patrol team. Inspired by his own experience, Carson hopes to become a doctor when he grows up. As a Hoops Ambassador, Carson is helping raise awareness and support for Hematology/Oncology at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.
