About Ama
Nine-year-old Amarachi (Ama) has IIH gastroparesis, hypothyroidism, and possible encephalopathy. “Her doctor at Hoops says, “In a world of horses and occasional zebras, she’s a unicorn—a one-of-a-kind young lady. She is the kind of kid who fits no box, so we have to make our own’,” said Ama’s mom.
With Ama’s diagnosis comes blinding headaches, unrelenting vomiting cycles, pain, and loss of feeling in her hands and feet at times. “The staff at Hoops takes the time to listen and care,” said Ama’s mom.
Ama wants to be a pediatric neurosurgeon when she grows up! This dancing princess is an amazing big sister, straight-A student, and loves to read and learn new things. As a Hoops Ambassador, Ama is raising support for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.
